A Day at the New York City Aquarium
Why do sea otters, seals, and walruses have whiskers? To find out the answer to this question, and many other curiosities, you'll need to spend a day at the New York City Aquarium, located at Surf Avenue and West 8th Street in Brooklyn. While at the aquarium, you can visit their 4-D theatre, watch penguin and walrus feedings, and view predators like sand tiger sharks from the behind the protection of reinforced glass. Ocean Adventure is one of the aquarium's main attractions. This program allows visitors to "discover what scientists are doing every day to study and protect wildlife." Those interested in the dazzling colors of marine life will want to head to Glover's Reef in the Conservation Hall. Here's a great tip: between 3:00 and 3:30pm on Fridays the admission is "pay-what-you-wish donation" based.
